Very good condition; painting and ornate frame. There are three tiny, unobtrusive spots of missing pigment in the right background. The color is a bit brighter in the image, but the image is true in color and condition. Purchased from an English seller in 2005. A similar painting by this artist of the same subject was sold by Railtons Auctioneers, Wooler, Northumberland in 2003.
The artist hasn’t been identified but the work is unquestionably that of a professional, most likely executed before 1950. Identifying work by a female artist is always problematical, given that many altered their signatures after marriage.
